I am going to be honest with you, getting referrals is a bit of work but it pays off in the end!
It's best to start off with friends and family, but you have to remember that other members within your family cannot sign up under the same house. You also cannot use the same credit/debit card to complete an offer. This will immediately get you banned if you do so from the freebie site. If you have a family member living in another house with a different credit/debit card then it's fine to register. So you got a brother or sister that's moved out, get them to sign up as a referral for you. This is how i got my first free gift. Friends and family is always good, they will pass their referral onto their friends and their friends will pass it onto their other friends. So on and so on. Till you reached the specified number of referrals needed to get your free gift.
Other methods are
Signing up to sites like exceem and gimme4free, they are free to join and you can find the links in the Links section of this site. They help you to advertise your referral links. These two sites are the major players in the UK freebie scene. Lot's of helpful users on their forums which again are free to join. You must read their policies which you can find under their forum threads. They don't allow you to just post your referral links as this can get you banned. You have to gain access into their trades section. Which i will talk more about next.
Trades
You can do trades on these forums. You need to gain access to their trade sections. For this, you need to of at least made 5 meaningful detailed posts on their forums and also wait about 5 days. It's like this to prevent scamming. The forum moderators have to do some checks and read your posts made to see if you are worthy of gaining access. Now there are two sorts of trades you can do.
A cash for green trade also known as a C4G
A green for green trade
When someone signs up to your referral link and completes an offer, this is called a green. On these forums you can do green for green trade, so this means you must get someone one to sign up to your referral link and complete an offer and you must sign up to their referral link and complete an offer. This is a green for a green. This is the fastest and best way to get a green. Everyone goes for this, i did it with my friends and family. The offer you can sign up for is the Lovefilm DVD trial. You need to rent the specified amount of DVD's in your account when you sign up to them. After you rented that specified amount you can cancel your trial before it ends or if you like using the service you can subscribe to them for a year. Other people do the Lovefilm pay as you go offer, you get free dvd rentals for 6 months.
Then there is a C4G (cash for green) trade
Here you can get someone to sign up to your referral link and instead of doing a trade for them e.g instead of signing up and completing an offer for them, you just pay them a fee through paypal. Now the fee can be something like £5. There are a lot of offers available and some of the £5 ones are for signing up to online gambling sites, where your friend just deposits the £5 to play a game in which they could win several times that amount or lose it but it's doesn't really matter as you only have to do this once and you got your free gift providing you have met all the referrals needed for the free gift. So this can work the other way, someone may want you to complete an offer for them to get a green. So they will pay you £5 and you can go along and gamble it on a site and sign up for your free gift.
